The 18V motor has all the torque I need for most jobs (note from an EE: higher voltage makes it easier to get more motor power from a battery of given capacity). Having two batteries makes life a lot easier - one working while the other charges. And, as an added convenience, the batteries are interchangeable with batteries in other B&D tool suite, like their lawn trimmer. I haven't needed the extra batteries and charger yet, but I'm sure some job will come up where they're ...more

We've gone through several brands and models, and this one seems the best combination of easy to hold, relatively quiet, and reasonable cost. They usually last about as long as they are warrantied for (2 years I think). In a less dusty service, they might last quite a bit longer. We quit using Dremel many years ago because they cost a lot more, usually only come with a lot of expensive accessories, and don't last any longer. ...more

It honestly must be the greatest household product known to man. First, it's CORDED, making it much more powerful than chargeable hand vacs. That's easily the srongest product attribute. I wore out a couple of cheap B&D 18 inch single action trimmers. Older and tired of the clatter, I bought a twenty inch double action Craftsman trimmer, on sale at a local Sears store.
