I use the tool for home maintenance and for my hobby of radio controlled sailplanes. I like the continuously variable speed control. At the lowest speed it still has decent torque and works well for semi-precision machining. With the Dremel chuck it makes a great hobby tool with quick tool changes. The design appears robust. The on switch at the top is really easy to use compared to the other brands we have that have the switch at the back. The description reads 3 speed, but after using it, I find that it is truly variable speed. I was able to find a nice speed between the low and middle setting, so you're not held down to just 3 speeds. The storage case isn't a case at all, but rather a black vinyl bag with a cinch at the top. However, this little rotary tool abolishes that thought. I then purchased the 'heavy' 20 watt unit with much better results. I used it to power my XM radio for 5 hours and it works well to recharge my cell phone twice.
